One of the most sobering realities in this letter is that it is possible to be active for Jesus without being close to Jesus. It is possible to attend church regularly. Serve faithfully. Read the Bible consistently. Defend truth passionately. And still lose the warmth of relationship that once existed. Not because of rebellion. But because of routine.
Take one minute of silence. Don’t answer immediately. Think about this question:
When was the season you felt closest to Jesus?
What characterized that season?
What was different?
After a minute, invite anyone who wishes to share.
What are some warning signs that our relationship with Jesus is becoming more routine than relational?
